“Wood is tough stuff – it’s nature’s version of carbon fiber. Naturally rigid and impact-resistant, when reinforced with steel pins, it’s serious protection for your iPod/iPhone.” – Vers. Now Available in store for $40 in Bamboo, Cherry and Walnut (pictured)

Jesse Schlesinger is a visual and social practice artist residing in San Francisco. He works in a variety of media, including sculptural installation, photography, and drawing. In his buildings and installations Jesse works with a hand-made aesthetic. Utilizing foraged urban materials and found objects, he creates sculptural dwellings. Both private and public, these dwellings explore how we inhabit and contemplate space. Drawing is an element of his art practice that further explores craft and spatial conceptions, working directly and indirectly with experiences of dwelling. The drawings are created with natural materials exploring both the ephemeral and the infinite in understanding the idea and emotion of home. His photos explore the natural environment of Northern California. Often focusing on an enchanted atmosphere or the intricacies of natural light and color, Jesse’s portrayal of the landscape has an ethereal quality and gently coaxes the viewer into the curious and mystic perspective of the photographer. Schlesinger’s practice reveals a conversation between culture, agriculture, and the natural world. His work is a direct synthesis of his personal history with carpentry, nine years of experience farming with Dirty Girl Produce and a dream of Black Mountain and the “back-to-the-land movement.”
The photographs of Jesse Schlesinger are currently on display at General Store.

“The Great Beach and Father Sky”
David Wilson shares drawings and watercolors of recent experiences
with the dunes, the ocean, the moon, shells, and the sun’s setting.
As a guest to Ocean Beach, I took watch of the land’s last sandy
exhale and the sun leaving each day. Nightly I painted the moon,
following its full movement.
In course with my own experience of loss, I sat with these emblems of
everness and began to clarify a feeling; that wishing something to
wait is a hollow prayer. The best we can attempt is to move at the
speed of the world and find what we thought was gone in its new place.
Bio:
David Wilson makes drawigs and works on projects around the bay area.
He has shown at Eleanor Harwood, Hatch Gallery, Triple Base, Tartine,
and at Baer-Ridgway as part of Hot and Cold Issue 0. He organizes
gatherings and performances of a more adventurous and spirited nature
under the name Ribbons. He recently was awarded a 2009 GOLDIE award
from the SF Bay Guardian and a 2009 Alternative Exposure grant from
Southern Exposure. He has big plans.

Sudden Oak — Banquet Years c30 (Stunned no. 71)
From Stunned Records blog, http://stunnedrecords.blogspot.com/
Ever since watching them torch down LA’s Echo Curio in 2008, John Ward & Matt Erickson of Sudden Oak have been our favorite Frisco free-sound bruisers. This cassette might come as a surprise turn even for those privy to the duo’s own Bezoar Formations imprint and its periodic outflow of Sudden Oak tapes and discs. A further refining of their road-toughened scuzz, ‘Banquet Years’ turns in a document of whiskey-soaked saxophone lurch and boogie guitar slime-motions. These two ataxic modalities are without individual agenda, fusing into a singular badass voice which is equally comfortable commanding a bulb-glaring bunker as it is crashing the narcotic pool party nextdoor. Bounce back & burn it proud. Limited edition of 111 pro-dubbed & imprinted c30 tapes with double-sided color jcard and insert.
